My name is Angela Munoz (Moon-yos), and I am new to the DScIT program at MGA. I recently graduated with my Master of Science in Information Technology degree in Health Informatics in 2021. I have a non-traditional IT background with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications and dual concentrations in Telecommunications and Public Relations from Georgia College & State University in 2008, I also received my Associate of Arts degree in General Studies from East Georgia College in 2005.

By day, I work full-time as a remote Contact Representative and Spanish Translator at CHAMPVA Meds by Mail Pharmacy, and I have been working here for over 10 years! I refill medications for spouses and dependents of veterans who are 100 percent disabled or deceased due to service-connected injuries and our patients receive their medications at no cost through our program. In my work I have been able to shadow in health informatics, data analytics, and CIO and CMO projects related to information technologies such as electronic health records (EHRs), SQL, patient safety processes, quality control, privacy and security, cloud computing, and disaster recovery procedures.

For my side hustle, I have been teaching part-time as an adjunct instructor of Information Technology at MGA for a full academic year now! I have taught four courses of Human and Computer Interaction online, and in the fall semester I will begin teaching Project Management. I absolutely love teaching, and the best part about this work is helping students find their voice in IT and seeing them articulate their ideas through a dynamic and compelling presentation followed up with perfect APA 7th edition style and formatting.

As much as I love working in technology, I also enjoy being outdoors and relaxing with my family and friends. My husband, Josh, and I have been married for 13 years in June, and we have two wild, but sweet boys, Jacob, 11, and Samuel, 8. We also have two cats, Clover and Rosiebell, and two dogs, Abby and Beau. We have lived in East Dublin, Georgia for 11 years, but I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. I have a wide range of varied interests that ranges from investing, history, engineering, boating, hunting, fishing, cooking, nutrition, landscape design, video games, graphic design, and I am currently learning French. Something unique about me is that I am always learning something new and different, so I never run out of interesting topics. Also, you should know that I’m a bit of a cheerleader when it comes to education, I’m cheering for all of us to win!
